Wedgwood Red Riding Hood Tile Brown Transferware
A Wedgwood Pottery tile from the Red Riding Hood series. Designed in the 1870's by Thomas Allen, this is one of six in the set. This image shows Red Riding Hood on her way to Grandma's house, stopping to rest her basket and pick a flower in the forest. The wolf cam be seen lurking in the background. The tile measures 6" square and retains a nice shiny surface. There are traces of mortar on the back. It is unsigned.
A nice tile to start someone on a collection and to search out the others in the series, or it works wonderfully on its own merit.
