Walter Crane Illustration Advertising Tile Trivet Nursery Rhyme Good King Arthur by AETCO
Walter Crane was an accomplished 19th century illustrator famous for his nursery rhyme book Baby's Opera, His designs were used by several American and English tile companies in the early 1900's. This tile is from the American Encaustic Tile Company, AETCO, of Zanesville, Ohio and has a transfer design of Good King Arthur. Measures 6" x 6" x 3/4". This tile was a souvenir advertising gift and the back of the trivet has "Pittsburgh Tile Industry Field Day July 31 1926. AETCO" embossed into the clay.
