Mercer Moravian Art Tile Antique Brocade Milkweed Pod Arts & Crafts
Brocade tile from the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works founded by Henry Chapman Mercer. It is a Persian inspired flourish of a milkweed pod covered in an engobe green slip. These were made to be grouted into plaster walls and become one of the decorative elements of the house. It is unsigned as are most of the old original antique tiles made by this company. Measures 5" x 3". Traces of mortar and white calcium.
